Your First Visit
Your first visit will take approximately 30-45 minutes. During this appointment a thorough medical and dental history will be taken and a comprehensive examination of the teeth, jaws, and muscles of the face will be done. During this examination Dr. Shemirani will determine:
- Whether orthodontic treatment is necessary;
- If so, when is the best time to start;
- The estimated length and cost of treatment.
There is no charge for this initial orthodontic consultation.
If orthodontic treatment is needed, financial arrangement can be made at this time. If after the exam you have made a decision to initiate treatment, full diagnostic records will be necessary.
Diagnostic Records
If treatment is indicated, diagnostic records will be taken prior to beginning orthodontic treatment. This typically includes facial and dental photographs as well as impressions which are used to fabricate plaster study models. Dr. Shemirani uses these records to create your customized treatment plan and to track progress as your teeth move during the course of treatment.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes from one to two hours. To accommodate our patients busy schedules our office if open from Monday through Thursday as well as the second and third Saturday of each month. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. Once you cancel, please keep in mind that it is difficult to reschedule you since most appointments are made 4 to 8 weeks in advance.
